In a world where international affairs, global economic crises, terrorism, and natural disasters abound, it is so easy to consider issues of human freedoms and dignity as secondary, let alone the consideration of youth. Yet, ideas like those you illuminated will ultimately those which will provide the wisdom and strength to resolve most if not all those issues which humanity faces, and will continue to face. Humanity must promote developing a solid framework in which people of all ages, especially young people, live without fear and restriction, without a constant need to hold their potential back. Life which celebrates diversity of expressions, tendencies, and standards. Life of openness, acceptance and respect to the unknown. Radicalism is very relative. What may seem radical now is going to be the cornerstone of future standards, and will enable what may seem now unthinkable radicalism in the future. That is a good thing, if humanity is to progress on a positive path. You are ahead of your time, but not a moment too soon.

I am praying that your vision will materialize sooner than later.

I just want to say thank you. Thank you so much for putting my thoughts out there, for being radical enough to defend my freedoms in this society, for opening people's minds and doing it so eloquently. Thank you.

Maymay, I applaud you for having the guts (and spending the time and energy) to get involved. The Hope Witsell tragedy has made me want to write to my school district or do something to raise awareness of how screwed up things are.

Good luck to us both!

Wow, thank you so much for letting me know that I made a difference for you, Ben! :) I can't wait to hear about the difference you're going to make now. Good luck, and please don't hesitate to find me again and let me know how things are going with the conversations you start about this issue!

I stumbled on the video of your presentation and I'd just like to voice my firm support and appreciation. Adultism is an issue that has been close to my heart for a number of years, but I found the lack of concord or even acknowledgement of the issue disheartening. Still, your presentation was a big boost - it's good to be reminded that other people are actually arguing this, and I'm going to throw this link at as many people as I can and start discussing all this again.
Thanks,
Ben, 19.

I'm glad this resonated with you, missedstations. :)

May you continue your work for a long time!

Thank you, I hope that I can. But the reality is that it is extraordinarily difficult to do this and have a full-time day job and try to maintain a social life (which I have all but given up on) and feel fulfilled in a personal, private life.

Something has to give, and sadly, for too many people, this is the kind of work that gets dropped. It's just very hard.

So I really appreciate your words of support, and I'd also appreciate your active help by sending the link to this video around to people you know who might be willing to hear it, and so on. :)

I just found and read this blog post fascinated and surprised that someone would be willing to stand up and make such a speech.

It resonated personally for me: for while sex education was available for me, it only concentrated on the 'normal' heterosexual sex. Since I was uninterested in that, I always felt that something was WRONG with me, and it is only now that I am accepting my sexuality. If only someone had explained the variance that exists within human sexuality when I first began to question myself: when my sexual fantasies felt perverse and like something I should never do.

May you continue your work for a long time!

Thank you for the encouragement, Tyler! Obviously, making information available is the major goal of what I'm trying to do. :)
