Obviously, things are a’changin’ ’round here. My template is finally back to normal looks different (hopefully a temporary thing), I’ve moved my blog to my own server, the first sentence of this post sounded as though I was a cowboy…. Clearly the dust has yet to settle.
In the mean time, so as not to completely interrupt your regularly scheduled programming, I would like to point you all in the direction of various sex toy reviews I’m writing for EdenFantasys. I know, I know, it’s not quite the same, but such is life.
I do things in extremes, it always seems. I’m currently in a phase of extreme cyber-remodelling, and I’m having fun even though it’s bumped me off the bitter blog posts bandwagon. Not to worry, however, it’s impossible to stay off the wagon for too long.

I’m curious, what prompted you to move to your own server? Your blog, among several others, prompted me to start writing a sex blog of my own, and was (specifically) the reason I chose to do so on blogspot.

Hi Elizabeth.
Mostly the peace of mind knowing that all my writing is controlled explicitly by me, backed up by me in easily portable formats, and published in an place with less restrictive terms of service than a hosted blogging provider might have.
Rumors circulate every so often about hosted services deleting BDSM-related content from their sites for “family friendly” reasons and I hate that sort of thing.
Also, I am a web developer in “real life” so doing all of this is largely trivial for me.
That’s awesome to hear, thanks for the mention! BlogSpot is really quite fine. They even provide easy backup instructions in their help articles in case you’re paranoid like me. :) But ultimately there is nothing quite like controlling your own web site from top to bottom all by yourself, if you can do so. And I can. So I thought, why not?

There’s a way to get bumped off?

I don’t know, but I’d rather not find out the hard way.

The ability to back everything up easily (or I should say, have my boyfriend back everything up easily) was the big reason, for me. But also, now that we have our own sites we can do a lot more with their design and features. Having profile pages that are customizable springs to mind.
Bitchy, I hope your journal is backed up! I would hate to see it go away.

Fortunately (for Bitchy), WordPress makes it really easy to back up your site (Manage + Export). They also strike me as a pretty open-minded bunch of folks, so I don’t think there’s much risk of them taking your site down because of BDSM content. But I could be wrong.

AFAIK, that particular function creates a WordPress-specific XML file. Not a bad export, really, but something to be aware of. Also, that’s a manual process. Much easier, methinks, to get a SQL dump of the whole kit’n’kaboodle emailed to me automatically every day/week/whatever.

I agree with Elizabeth in that yours is one of the blogs that inspired me to
start my own. Of course instead of writing I’m wandering around collecting
some of my favorite blog links. Also of course I have to catch up on my
reading on each blog… this could take some time. Anyway I trust this is
the correct address for your blog now?

That’s neat. Thanks for mentioning it. :)
Yes indeed, this should be the permanent home of this blog, now.
