On release of 12th installment of the FetLife Meat List, publication of third feature “How FetLife Failed” article in 3 months

Last week, Mikandi, the third-party app store entirely devoted to porn apps, published a feature article titled “The FetLife Meatlist: How A Social Network Failed Its Users” detailing the continued regular releases of installments of Mircea Popescu’s infamous catalog of FetLife profiles of young women. This marks the third feature article in a mainstream online […]

The FetLife Creeplist, Volume 1

Here is a list of the first 3,730 of FetLife’s financial supporters who are male- and dominant-identified. More specifically, this list contains the FetLife user ID number, name, age, location, and number of “friends” of most FetLife users who purchased a premium FetLife membership and who self-identify as male and one of either “Dom,” “Master,” or “Top” on their FetLife profiles. I hereby dub this the FetLife Creeplist, Volume 1.

(Interactive table on maybemaimed.com powered by Inline Google Spreadsheet Viewer.)

This list was trimmed from a publicly-available dataset of over one-and-a-half million FetLife users’ basic profile information. That bigger list is also available for anyone to download from here, or here. But it’s much more interesting when only a specific demographic is targeted, isn’t it? ;)

Praxis Journal’s “Mapping Sexual Assault” and Technology for Rape Survivor Support Networks

This is a long and highly technical paper written by someone who has been thinking about sexual assault survivor support along the same exact lines as unquietpirate and myself. We began our work on Predator Alert Tool in early to mid-2012 and eventually released the first functional prototype on October 26, 2012. A little over […]

feministcurrent: Let’s just start by saying this: I really don’t care about ‘kink’ or about ‘kinky people’. It just doesn’t interest me. I don’t give a shit about your leather fetish. Really. But because I recently dared to suggest that RCMP officer Jim Brown’s sadomasochistic behaviour might, just might, be related to the fact that […]

The creep checking out your dating profile is a cop who used DMV records to see your home address

Dating on Duty: Officers Accused Of Screening Dates Using Police System: [Court documents] alleged that both [Fairfield Police Officers] Ruiz and Glashoff found women’s profiles had been browsing women on dating websites like Tinder, eHarmony, and Match.com while working at the investigations bureau office of the Fairfield Police Department[. …T]he officers then used a police-issued […]

Believe it or not, Predator Alert Tool isn’t more widely used because, on some level, you think rape is okay.

So here’s an interesting thing. This article about Predator Alert Tool for OkCupid written by a woman in New York City (certainly a progressive city by most feminist standards) discusses rape culture without naming the term, but also contains a bunch of rape apologia of its own. Check out this telling excerpt: Perhaps more importantly, […]
